Officers of the Anti Vandal and Commandant Monitoring Team of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, have arrested a suspected smuggler of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petrol.
The suspect identified as Olaide Hassan, 28, a native of Saki, Oyo State, was nabbed along Ogboro-Saki road with sixty six 25-litre kegs filled with PMS, totalling 1,650 litres and valued at N267,300.00, loaded in a black Golf car with registration number AGL 27AY, for diversion to neighbouring Benin Republic.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command of the NSCDC, CC Oluwole Olusegun, the Commandant, CC Michael Adaralewa, who paraded the suspect and exhibit at the Command’s Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, said the Command would not relent in making the state inconducive for vandals to operate, adding that those with similar intentions should change their minds.
The statement read: “It’s better for all the criminals who think they want to live in Oyo State to perpetrate their criminality to have a rethink or rather look for a legal work to do because the Command will not leave any stone unturned in dealing with these bad people that are determined to sabotage the economy of the country. They must know that there is a new Sheriff in town.”
He declared that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation by the Intelligence and Investigative Department of the Command and enjoined the general public to work closely with the NSCDC and other security agencies in the state in order for the agencies to make the state safe and serve citizens better for the economic growth of the state and the country at large.
