The Oyo State Resident Electoral Commisioner, Dr Tella Adeniran says the electoral umpire is ready for a hitch free exercise that will culminate into a free and fair presidential election on Saturday.

He gave this assurance on Friday while speaking with Voice of Nigeria correspondent ahead of the Saturday poll.

Consequently, Dr Adeniran appealed to electorates to troop out en masse to exercise their franchise by voting for their choice of candidates.

He said adequate security has been provided to protect electoral materials, as well as the electorates and the INEC staff.

“The security personnel have given assurances of adequate protection of our staff, materals and the electorates. In fact, they have even agreed to cancel their regular early morning parade for Saturday to ensure early arrival at the polling units as well other duty posts.

“The State Commissioner of Police have also promised to take care of the dark spots and flash
points, especially the boundary areas through which criminals used to penetrate or escape after committing crimes.”

Dr Adeniran commended the Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele for fulfilling his promise to provide enough liquidity for the poll.

He says, “I must commend the Central Bank for providing adequate cash for the exercise. As we speak, all our ad hoc staff have been paid to the tune 50 per cent. You know there is cash crunch nationwide, and as youths, the ad  hoc staff may be difficult to control if we had paid them via cashless policy”.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner once again assured the residents of Oyo State of adequate preparation even as he warned them to refrain from causing trouble and engaging in any violent activity.
