Election: NAF Deploys Fighter Jets To Ebonyi State

The Nigeria Airforce has deployed fighter jets to monitor the election in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria and to ward off suspected bandits and non-state actors threatening to disrupt Election in the State.

Governor David Umahi announced this at an emergency security meeting with heads of security agencies at Government House Abakaliki.

He emphasised that the jets would be flying very low around the state during the poll. He urged the residents not to panic as it was meant to protect them against possible threats.

He reiterated his call on security agencies to be fair to all political parties and to demobilize any unauthorized persons found with arms irrespective of party affiliations.

Governor Umahi charged security agencies to ensure the effective implementation of the no-movement order by the federal government and ensure that eligible voters are given unfettered access to the poll in line with the electoral guidelines.

He raised alarm on the infiltration of fake election observers and charged the police to re-accredit them to ensure that those with genuine missions were allowed to participate in the exercise.
