The Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria Abdallah Abu Shawesh, has disagreed with the claim by Israeli Government that  it  was trying to protect and free Palestine from the captivity of Hamas.

The Palestinian Ambassador,  disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s  Capital.

He explained that his country was not under the captivity of Hamas, noting that the whole idea was a distraction.

“We are not under the captivity of Hamas, it’s Israel’s excuse to justify their occupation. Is it that to free me, you have to kill me? If that is a way to help the Palestinians, we can’t accept it.

Palestinians had never solicited Israel’s help to free them from Hamas. Hamas, like other organisations in Palestine, are resisting the Israeli occupation, Hamas had never attacked any other country.Hamas was created 20 years after Israel’s occupation,” he explained.

Ambassador Shawesh, noted that the relentless bombardments of Gaza Strip by the Israeli Forces have deprived the entire population of all their basic needs.

“It’s a very dangerous stage, where we have become used to counting the numbers of the dead people, home destructions, injuries, and so on and so forth, without any emotional feeling towards the victims.”

He explained that according to the United Nations,  70% of the Palestinians are now internally displaced.

“All these are not mere numbers, they are shattered dreams, hopes and aspirations,”  he added.

Over 11,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, with over 29,500 individuals wounded by Israeli Forces since October 7.

The alarming death toll was confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, which said that the number includes at least 4,500 children.

The Ministry said the death toll surged to at least 11,200 in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank, with over 29,500 individuals wounded.

The Palestinian Envoy, doubted the possibility of wiping out Hamas when their land is still under occupation.

He said “what Hamas is doing is an idea which makes it impossible to be killed. Is not possible to kill an idea. It will not work. Only political solutions can resolve the issue.”

Meanwhile the Israeli Government has alleged that Hamas was using hospitals, medical facilities and playgrounds as shields.

Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria,  Michael Freeman disclosed this in a statement, by the Embassy in Nigeria

“Hamas is cynically using the Palestinian population of Gaza as human shields,” he said.

Hamas, however denied Israeli Military claims of using civilians and hospitals as shields.

In a related development, the Israeli Defense Forces Spokesman Rear Admirar,  Daniel Hagari says Hamas has several underground complexes under the Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip that are used by the their  leaders to direct attacks against Israel.

A World Health Organization (WHO) Spokesperson said Friday that al-Shifa was “coming under bombardment,” adding that 20 hospitals in the Gaza Strip were “out of action.”

Asked about a potential Israeli airstrike on al-Shifa hospital on Friday, WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said in a briefing: “I haven’t got the detail on al-Shifa but we do know they are coming under bombardment.”

Israeli Government has been under pressure from State leaders and international human rights organizations calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

It’s been over a month since Hamas attack on Israel as well as Israel declaring its war against Hamas.
