The financial technology startup PalmPay has reaffirmed its dedication to protecting its more than 35 million users’ money from scammers.

Mr. Femi Hanson, its head of marketing and communications, made this claim in a statement released in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to Hanson, the business has provided safety guidelines that users should follow in the upcoming year to protect their accounts and money.

He emphasised the importance of activating the night guard feature on the PalmPay app to provide additional protection and authentication for transactions conducted at night while highlighting safety precautions.

Hanson further underlined that to provide an additional degree of protection for transactions beyond a predetermined threshold, customers should activate the transaction guard feature on their PalmPay app.

He claims that to exploit gullible people, scammers are using increasingly complex strategies like phishing attempts, phoney websites, and giveaway schemes.

“Fraudsters are not ready to take a break from their schemes as they remain on the prowl to exploit unsuspecting victims,” Hanson said.

He added that other safety precautions included registering for the PalmPay wallet shield, confirming all transaction platforms, reporting fraudulent transactions right away, and keeping up with safety notifications.

Hanson underlined that PalmPay will never require sensitive information; therefore, it is important to exercise caution when you receive calls, emails, or SMS asking for it.

Additionally, he emphasised how important it is for customers to routinely check their account transactions and notify the company’s customer service team of any questionable activity.

“By following these safety tips, PalmPay users can ensure their financial security and protect themselves from fraudulent activities.

“PalmPay will continue to show commitment by providing a secure and reliable platform for financial transactions for users,” he said.
