At Unit 7 Ward 10 and Unit 11 Ward 10, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti, as well as Unit 13 Ward 11 at Ola-Oluwa Muslim Grammar School and many other polling units, only three agents of political parties were present, namely: ADC, APC, and PDP. Other notable political parties that also featured candidates in the governorship election were visibly absent.
At Unit 11 Ward 10 Asa Compound, Okesha, the three agents in attendance, Mr Lawal Mayowa (ADC), Mrs Mary-Esther Olukayode (APC) and Mrs Comfort Ajetunmobi, all commended the process and the conduct of the poll.
They all collectively commended the conduct of the security agencies for their civility, timely arrival of electoral materials and prompt commencement of the election.
They as well commended the INEC for their organisation.
BIVAS malfunction
At Unit 13 Ward 11, Ola-Oluwa Muslim Grammar School, Ilawe Road where the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro voted, an incident of temporary malfunction of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) machine was recorded for about an hour before it was eventually replaced.
According to Professor Adubiaro, such incidents were recorded in a few places, but reports showed that the situation was under control.
Adubiaro, who voted around 9.30am, also commended the impressive turnout of the electorate and the exercise for being peaceful, and expressed hope that the result will turn out positive for her party.
If elected, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC will be the first in the history of Ekiti State to be re-elected for another four-year term, in a roll, afternoon, completing the first tenure in office.
