The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved to douse speculations of a crisis within its ranks, particularly concerning the Akwa Ibom State chapter.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, emphasised that there is no crisis in the party, clarifying that the dissolution of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee was a constitutional decision of the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to him, a caretaker committee has been duly constituted to pilot the affairs of the party in the state until a fresh executive is elected.

Ologunagba urged party members and the public to disregard any statements or letters issued by unauthorised persons on the matter, stressing that the PDP remains “strong, stable and committed to democratic processes.”

On preparations for the party’s elective National Convention, billed for Ibadan on November 15–16, the spokesman gave assurances that the party was on course to deliver what he described as a “seamless and unifying exercise.”

“Ibadan is fully awake and ready to receive the PDP. All sub-committees, including venue, transportation, security, and publicity, are working round the clock. Our governors, leaders, and stakeholders across the country are united in ensuring a successful convention,” he stated.

Ologunagba reiterated that the convention remains sacrosanct, insisting that “there is no threat whatsoever to its conduct.”

He described the convention as a reaffirmation of the PDP’s internal cohesion and democratic values.

Reaffirming PDP’s unity, Ologunagba dismissed suggestions that the Akwa Ibom development or other internal issues could derail the convention.

“Our train has landed in Ibadan. We are moving methodically, without crisis, towards a truly democratic convention that will strengthen our resolve to rescue Nigeria,” he said.

With preparations in full swing, the PDP appears determined to use its Ibadan convention as a rallying point for unity, strategy, and renewed engagement with Nigerians ahead of future elections.
