The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.
According to a statement signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), the notice of primary election/congresses to state chapter will take place on Wednesday, September 01, 2021, while the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will take place from Monday, September 13, to Thursday, September 30, 2021.
Also included in the schedule of activities are:
- Last day for submission of forms (EOI & NOI) – Tuesday, October 05, 2021
- Screening of aspirants (National Secretariat) – Monday, October 11, 2021
- Submission of screening report and distribution of provisional clearance certificates – Monday, October 25, 2021
- Appeals on screening exercise – Thursday, October 28, 2021
- Ward congresses to elect 3-man ad-hoc ward delegates – Friday, January 7, 2022, to Saturday, January 8, 2022
- Gubernatorial Primary (Candidate nomination) – Friday, January 28, 2022
The tenure of the current Governor of Ekiti State will expire on the 15th October 2022.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed June 18, 2022, for the conduct of the Ekiti State governorship election while party primaries should hold between January 4 to January 29, 2022.
