The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has congratulated Dr Ijeoma Akunyili on her appointment as the first Nigerian to be appointed as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the USA.
Dr Akunyili was the daughter of the great Professor Dora Akunyili who was the Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control of Nigeria from 2001 to 2008.
Obi used his official twitter handle to felicitate with her.
“I sincerely congratulate my dear sister, Dr. Ije Akunyili, on being the first Nigerian to be appointed as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the USA. Such shows that nothing is intrinsically wrong with Nigerians.”
He said Nigerians only need good environment for them to achieve their fullest potentials, which he said could only be achieved if he is allowed to lead the country.
