Plateau Rerun: ADP Lauds Hitch-Free Conduct
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the hitch-free conduct of Saturday’s rerun, by-election across the country.
Mr Yabagi Sani, the ADP National Chairman said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
“The party is pleased to note that the election was free, fair, credible, peaceful, and we commend INEC for its dedication to upholding the democratic process.
“The ADP is also grateful for the exemplary leadership and statesmanship demonstrated by Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, in ensuring peace and stability during the electoral process.
“The party recognizes the governor’s efforts in fostering an environment conducive to peaceful elections and extends its appreciation for his commitment to the well-being of the people of Plateau State,” he said.
Exemplary role
Sani commended the police and other security agencies for their exemplary role in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the election.
He said the security agencies played vital role in maintaining law and order and commended them for their dedication to ensuring a secured electoral environment.
Sani congratulated the people of Jos North, party supporters and other support groups for their participation in the electoral process.
The ADP chairman said that the support shown to the party’s candidates, Mr Pam Dachungyang was overwhelming and contributed greatly to the victory at the poll.
“ADP appreciates the overwhelming support shown for Dachungyang and extends its gratitude to the constituents for their confidence and trust.
“The ADP assures the people of Plateau North, Plateau State, and Nigeria of effective representation at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
“The party is committed to the task of building a peaceful, united, and progressive Nigeria and pledges to work tirelessly for the betterment of the nation,” he said.
Sani urged Dachungyang to serve the people and contribute to the development and progress of Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.
Dachungyang was declared winner of the Plateau North rerun election by INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Nestor Chagok having polled 122,442 votes, defeating his closest rival, Yakub Safiu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who got 53, 980 votes.
