The Adamawa State Police Command and the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening existing collaboration aimed at enhancing peace, security, and public order in the state.
This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, led by their Chairman, Ibrahim Kado, to the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris.
CP Moris while stressing the importance of accurate information and the media’s role in fostering public trust, commended the chapel for its unwavering support in the fight against crime and efforts to maintain peace across the state, describing the media as a vital partner in policing,
“Your work as journalists is vital to our collective efforts to keep Adamawa safe. You have been objective in your reportage, and we recognize your role in building trust between the public and the police. We value this cooperation and look forward to enhancing it further,” the Commissioner said.
He assured the media of the Command’s continued openness and accessibility, while urging reporters to remain professional and responsible in their reporting to strengthen public confidence and promote societal harmony.
Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Ibrahim Kado, Command the commissioners proactive efforts in tackling insecurity most especially the recently communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area over land dispute and pledged the chapel’s continued support in promoting the achievements of the police and providing constructive feedback.
“Our visit today is to deepen the existing relationship between the media and the police, particularly in the area of information sharing and timely communication with the public,” Kado noted.
“The media plays a central role in shaping public opinion and fostering trust in public institutions. We are committed to contributing to peace, security, and development in Adamawa State through accurate and ethical reportage.”
Both CP Morris and Chairman Kado agreed to further strengthen the synergy between the police and the media, particularly in areas of crisis communication, public enlightenment, and countering misinformation.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to uphold professional ethics, promote transparency, and work collaboratively in the interest of public safety and peaceful coexistence across Adamawa State.
