President Buhari Observes Eid in Mambila Barracks

Nigerian Muslims on Monday joined the Ummah across the world in celebrating this year’s Eid-Al-Fitr.

As early as 7:00 GMT, the Muslin faithful trouped to their various places of worship to observe the congregational Eid-Al-Fitri prayers to commemorate the end of the month-long Ramadan Fast.

 

 

 

 

President Muhammadu Buhari was among the worshippers at the Mambila Barracks Eid ground In Abuja to fulfill the religious obligation.

The congregational prayer was another moment of thanks giving to Allah by the Muslim faithful as the holy month of Ramadan, depicting the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and spiritual reawakening came to an end.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the other worshippers observed the two raqa’at prayer, demonstrating their appreciation to their creator for his guidance, protection and mercies during the blessed month.

Lessons

In a sermon (Khutba), shortly after leading the prayers, the Presiding Imam Lt Col Hamisu Mustapha, represented by Warrant Officer Dahiru Shuwa, admonished  the congregation to keep alive the virtues and values of Ramadan even after the holy month for eternal peace and salvation.

He stressed the need for genuine repentance from sin, love for one another, forgiveness, tolerance and constant prayers to Allah as the weapon against all adversities of life.

 

The  Imam was also emphatic that extra effort must be made in obeying the commandments of Allah, Exercising patience at all times for his sake as well as maintaining the competition in good deeds  for humanity, mutual cooperation and brotherhood.

Special prayers were offered for an end to the various challenges bedeviling the country, peaceful 2023 elections, as well as sustainable National unity, stability and prosperity.

Decisive Action

Speaking to Journalists, after the congregational prayer, President Muhammadu Buhari revealed that he has been having sleepless nights over the security situation in some parts of the country.

He however, promised to spare no effort in dealing decisively and mercilessly with the criminal gangs causing mayhem.

On the forthcoming 2023 general elections, the President reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to a free, fair and transparent process.

This is the first time President Buhari will be observing Eid-Al-Fitri prayers outside the Presidential villa since the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic two years ago.
