President Tinubu Congratulates Aremu on 65th Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Comrade Issa Obalowu Aremu, Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), on the occasion of his 65th birthday, commending his decades of unwavering service to Nigeria’s labour movement and democratic development.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Comrade Aremu as a distinguished trade unionist, prolific writer, and frontline advocate of good governance, peace, and social justice.

President Tinubu noted that the former journalist has spent over four decades championing workers’ rights and promoting sustainable national industrial development, making him one of Nigeria’s most respected voices in the labour movement.

The President recalled Comrade Aremu’s impactful leadership as General Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), as well as his service as an executive member of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) between 2008 and 2020.

He joined the Aremu family, friends, and the entire labour community in celebrating what he described as a life of courage, commitment, and principled advocacy in defence of Nigerian workers and the wider society.

He also thanked the MINILS Director-General for his continued support and contributions to national discourse, praying that this new chapter of his life brings him good health, renewed strength, and greater fulfilment in service to the nation.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s appreciation for patriots like Comrade Aremu, whose lifelong dedication continues to inspire progress, unity, and justice in Nigeria.
