President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on its emergence as the Global Public Relations Association of the Year 2025, at the World Public Relations and Communication Awards held in Lisbon, Portugal.

The recognition, the President says, underscores Nigeria’s capacity to set benchmarks in ethical communication, public trust-building, and national reputation management

President Tinubu described the honour as a landmark achievement for Nigeria’s strategic communications sector and a testament to the professionalism and growing global relevance of the country’s public relations community.

In a congratulatory message issued on Friday by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Dr Ike Neliaku, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, for the leadership and institutional reforms that culminated in the historic recognition.

The President lauded Dr Neliaku, Minister Idris, and their teams, as well as public relations practitioners nationwide, for the vision, discipline, and commitment that propelled NIPR to the global stage, noting that the feat reflects Nigeria’s rising influence and credibility in the international public relations and strategic communications ecosystem.

He highlighted that the award mirrors the transformative reforms and global engagement drive of NIPR, supported by the policy direction and institutional backing of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that NIPR will sustain its trajectory of excellence, innovation, and integrity in professional practice, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting institutions that project Nigeria positively and contribute to national development through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

The Institute clinched the global award after a highly competitive process that featured 89 entries from 19 countries on February 19, 2026, emerging as the overall best association in the world.
