President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar, describing him as a patriotic leader who has played a pivotal role in fostering unity, peace, and religious tolerance across Nigeria.

The president’s tribute came as the respected monarch marked his 73rd birthday and the 22nd anniversary of his ascension to the throne, highlighting his influence as one of the country’s foremost traditional leaders.

President Tinubu noted that the Etsu Nupe’s distinguished career as a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army before becoming the 13th Etsu Nupe in 2003 reflects his lifelong dedication to national service.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar’s commitment to harmony and reconciliation, stressing that his leadership continues to strengthen Nigeria’s social fabric.

“His humility, courage and leadership experience have been brought to bear on his responsibilities as Chairman of the Abuja Mosque and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria,” President Tinubu said.

The president prayed for the Etsu Nupe’s continued reign, asking Almighty Allah to grant him long life, wisdom, and a peaceful and prosperous rule over the Nupe Kingdom.
