President Tinubu Hails Nigerian Players After Super Bowl Win.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent in the Seattle Seahawks squad, following the team’s victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, played on Sunday at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

President Tinubu also commended Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the game, whose performance on the opposing side further underlined the growing impact of Nigerians in elite global sports.

The President applauded the athletes for projecting Nigeria positively on the world stage, noting that the symbolic raising of Nigeria’s flag by Emmanwori, Nwosu and Maye after the victory reflected enduring pride in their heritage.

He said it served as an inspiration to young Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

He added that the players’ achievements reaffirm Nigeria’s global reputation for excellence, resilience and sporting talent, while underscoring the country’s vast human capital.

President Tinubu wished the players sustained success and greater accomplishments in their professional careers, urging them to continue to serve as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria wherever they compete.

The Seahawks secured their second Lombardi Trophy after defeating the Patriots 29–13 in a commanding performance that showcased discipline, resilience and tactical superiority.

Among the players of Nigerian heritage who featured prominently in the Seahawks’ title-winning campaign are quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe; defensive standout Nick Emmanwori; veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu; linebacker Boye Maye; and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi.
