The Nigerian Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hosted a reconciliation meeting at the State House, uniting leaders involved in the Rivers State political crisis.

On Thursday night, the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Speaker Martins Amaewhule, along with other members of the Rivers State Assembly, participated in the closed-door meeting.

On March 18th, President Tinubu invoked Section 305 of the Nigerian Constitution to take extraordinary measures aimed at restoring stability, peace, and effective governance in Rivers State, suspending the governor, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly for six months

The proclamation followed a prolonged political crisis that disrupted governance, economic and security in the state.

The declaration also followed an escalation of tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other political actors, including impeachment attempts, the burning of the State House of Assembly complex, and a breakdown in cooperation between the governor and the legislature.
