President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to social development, the empowerment of women and the protection of Nigeria’s most vulnerable citizens.

The assurance came during a briefing by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, on the progress of the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions.

President Tinubu, during the meeting, reaffirmed the strategic position of women not merely as beneficiaries of government programmes, but as primary drivers of national transformation and key agents in the realisation of Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy ambition.

President Tinubu assured Nigerian women that their safety, dignity, and economic empowerment remain top priorities of his administration.

He further reaffirmed that the government will continue to implement policies and programmes that protect women and children while creating opportunities for them to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim has described the meeting as a significant step in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“ I was deeply honoured to brief His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR—the Champion of Nigerian Women, the Protector of Children, and the Uplifter of Nigerian Families. During our meeting, I provided an update on our Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions,” she said.

She added, “Mr President reiterated this administration’s unwavering commitment to social development and the protection of our most vulnerable citizens. We are strategically positioning women not just as beneficiaries, but as the primary drivers of transformation and key agents in the realisation of Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy.”

The Minister also conveyed appreciation for the President’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of Families, describing it as a visionary initiative that recognises the vital connection between strong families and a resilient national economy.

“We extended our deepest appreciation for Mr President’s landmark declaration of 2026 as the Year of Families. This visionary move recognises that the strength of our nation’s economy is rooted in the stability and prosperity of the Nigerian home,” she stated.

“Mr President, Sir, we thank you most sincerely for all that you do,” she added.

Addressing Nigerian women, the Minister said, “Nigerian Women! This is our time. Mr President has personally assured us that our safety and our economic empowerment are a matter of national priority.”

She further expressed gratitude to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for her support.

“On behalf of the women of Nigeria, I extend our deepest gratitude to Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for her guidance and support,” the Minister said.

During his engagement in Turkey, the President signalled alignment with global development priorities by committing to declare a “Year of the Family,” later expanding this into a “Decade of the Family” in line with international programmes.

Observers say this is a commitment moved beyond symbolism, with clear implementation plans, measurable targets, and sustained institutional support.

They noted that the President’s prioritisation of social development sets a clear expectation: that these commitments translate into scaled, well-funded programmes that deliver tangible and lasting results.

Stakeholders, however, added that this will strengthen coordination, transparent delivery mechanisms, and demonstrable impact in the areas of nutrition, food accessibility, and empowerment initiatives, especially for vulnerable households, women and girls.
