Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of three non-career ambassadors.

President Tinubu made the request in a letter addressed to the Senate and read on Wednesday at the Plenary by Senator Godswill Akpabio, senate president.

The president said the nominations were made in accordance with section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 constitution as amended.

The nominees are:

Kayode Are from Ogun State

Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State

Ayodele Oke from Oyo State

President Tinubu urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointments of the nominees expeditiously,” while extending his “assurances of highest consideration” to the lawmakers.

Senator Akpabio referred the request to the Senate committee on foreign affairs and directed the panel to report back within one week.
