President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sympathy with traders and residents of Kano State following a devastating fire outbreak at Singer Market, directing a comprehensive investigation into the recurring incidents at the commercial hub.
The blaze, which broke out on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, caused extensive damage to the food market, destroying goods and livelihoods.
President Tinubu, who had earlier reached out to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to obtain a situation report, described the incident as tragic and deeply concerning.
The President raised concern that the latest inferno occurred less than two weeks after a previous fire incident at the same market destroyed dozens of shops and properties.
President Tinubu also ordered a thorough probe into the causes of the recurring market fires, noting that such incidents repeatedly leave traders in distress and undermine livelihoods.
He urged relevant authorities to strengthen safety measures and fire prevention systems in major markets across the country to avert future tragedies.
