The Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is set to confer the Distinguished Award on Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth on the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, on December 7, 2025.
The announcement was contained in a formal notification letter signed by Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, Permanent Secretary (General Services Office) for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
According to the letter, “Ogbuku will receive the honour at the upcoming Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), an event organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in partnership with the SGF’s office.”
The ceremony, which will take place at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, will be attended by President Tinubu, who is expected to personally present the award.
Infrastructure delivery
Danjuma, in the letter, wrote: “With reference to the letter from the Chairman, Advisory Council of Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service, I write to respectfully inform you that you have been nominated to receive a Distinguished Award for Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth.”
The recognition comes as a testament to Ogbuku’s leadership at the NDDC, where his tenure has been credited with significant strides in infrastructure development across the Niger Delta.
Under his stewardship, the commission has embarked on major interventions, including the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads, bridges, and essential social amenities aimed at improving the living conditions within the oil-rich region.
President Tinubu had during the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit held in Port Harcourt on July 12, 2024, commended the NDDC Board and Management for working cohesively to accelerate development efforts in the region.
The forthcoming award is widely regarded as a reinforcement of that presidential commendation.
