Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Dr Abiodun Essiet, has begun a three-day community engagement tour of Kwara State, aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in governance and advancing inclusive development across host communities.

As part of the engagement, Dr Essiet will convene a physical session of the Citizens’ Assembly and pay courtesy and working visits to key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, security agencies, and community leaders, to deliberate on local priorities, social inclusion, and feedback-driven governance.

Core pillar of the engagement includes security with discussions focused on strengthening community–security collaboration, improving early warning mechanisms, and supporting safer environments for sustainable development across the state.

On Day One of the visit, Dr Essiet paid strategic courtesy and working visits to the State Security Service (SSS) and the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekemi Ojo.

The visit was aimed at formally briefing the security agencies on her community engagement activities across the state and strengthening coordination between her office and security institutions.

During the meetings, discussions centered on the prevailing security situation in Kwara State, the importance of community-based intelligence sharing, and collaborative approaches to sustaining peace and stability through proactive grassroots engagement.
