The All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) says the nomination of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani from the opposing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in its Council is a deliberate action.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the Council, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, clarified this in a press statement.
Mr. Onanuga said the Enugu state Senator is on the list as a supporter and friend of the APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu.

He explained that the Council cannot speak on Senator Nnamani’s status and added that such an explanation should come from his party, the PDP.
“The PCC will also want to clarify that the appearance of the name of HE Chimaroke Nnamani, a distinguished senator from Enugu State, was not a mistake.
“He is on the list in his own right as a supporter of our presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, who is still away in the United States, is a very close friend of Tinubu.
“He may not be on the field with us as a PDP senatorial candidate in Enugu East, but his presence is indicative that he may have given ‘moral support’ to his old-time friend and brother.
“The PCC cannot dictate the extent of Senator Nnamani’s support for his friend and brother. That is part of his fundamental human right, which supersedes any provision in a Party Constitution.
“His position and allegiance to his party is self-defining and does not need any qualifying by us,” Onanuga said.
On the list of the Presidential Campaign Council released over the weekend with 422 names, the Council’s Media and Publicity Director explained it was a partial list containing only directors, deputy directors, secretaries of directorates, and critical stakeholders.
Mr. Onanuga assured APC Governors that the Council’s secretariat had not scrapped the names submitted by them.
“Some nominees of our governors have emerged as part of the leadership, while others will soon emerge as members of the various directorates,” he said.
