Presidential Debate: Kwankwaso calls for people oriented leadership

The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged Nigerians to vote for people oriented leaders in the forthcoming general election.

Kwankwaso stated this on Sunday at the presidential debate organised by the Nigeria Election Debate Group in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

He explained that Nigerians had in the past voted for leaders based on tribe and religion and such leaders didn’t work well. He therefore urged people to vote for leaders that had the interest of Nigerians at heart.

“What Nigeria requires today, under our circumstances is the best person for the job.

“ We have seen in the past, where many people supported their own person, and that person has no capacity for the job, and we ended up, everybody regretting in this country.

“So we have seen the situation in the country. So, what we require in this country today is leader that will assemble the best hands and brains to tackle the issues head on,” he said.

He also promised that if elected, his administration would tackle the issues of corruption bedevling the fuel susbidy and its removal. He explained that once loopholes are plugged, the resources in Nigeria would be sufficient for the nation.

Speaking on the new naira policy, Kwankwaso stated that the move was a big mistake adding that the policy has created an unnecessary hardship which was mostly affecting the common man.

Also speaking on the country’s debt profile, the NNPP presidential candidate stated that the country needs to diversify and make enough money to service the loans.

On how to address the strikes in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, Kwankwaso stated that if elected he would do whatever it take to give the ASUU whatever is due to them. He promised to establish confidence in the associations and pay off their debts.

On agriculture, He explained that as a farmer and a scholar himself, he would give all his support to the farmers because they produce more than 70 percent of the food consumed in Nigeria.
