The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement for the North Central Zone, Dr. Abiodun Essiet, has begun a three-day working visit to Plateau State as part of ongoing efforts by the Presidency to strengthen dialogue, enhance community resilience, and consolidate peace across the region.
The visit, tagged “Three-Day Stakeholders Engagement and Launch of Community-Based Peace Structures in Plateau State,” aims to deepen collaboration with key actors and establish peace structures across the Seventeen Local government areas of the state.
As part of the Day One activities, Dr. Essiet paid courtesy visits to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Headquarters of the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, where she met with senior security officials to discuss community security concerns reported to her office.

The discussions focused on improving cooperation between security agencies and local communities to enhance conflict prevention and promote sustainable peace.
Dr. Essiet also held strategic meetings with the Director-General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Julie G. Sanda; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim; and several Local Government Chairmen.
The engagements centered on strengthening collaboration between government institutions and community actors to tackle grassroots challenges, promote inclusive governance, and foster lasting peace across Plateau State.

Speaking during the meetings, Dr. Essiet reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to promoting dialogue and supporting locally driven peace initiatives.
She emphasised that the Presidency remains focused on empowering communities and preventing conflicts through inclusive engagement and strategic partnerships.
“These initiatives are part of the Presidency’s broader effort to empower communities, prevent conflicts, and consolidate peace across the North Central region,” she stated.
The visit continues with further engagements and the official launch of the Community-Based Peace Structures, designed to serve as platforms for dialogue, early warning, and collective problem-solving at the grassroots level.
