Re-Election: Group Drums Support For Nasarawa Assembly Speaker

Group known as the Kwararafa Women Association, Nasarawa State chapter is drumming support for Balarabe Abdullahi’s re-election as Speaker of the 7th House of Assembly.

Speaking during their visit to the Speaker, the Chairperson of the Association, Hajiya Kaltume Ogah, said that her team visited to congratulate him and other members who won their elections as well as to sympathise with those members that lost their elections.

Ogah said; “Your victory after the House of Assembly election did not come to us as a surprise because of your achievements and track records paved way for you.

“Your leadership style has promoted peace and speedy development across the state.

“It is our wish that you return as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly in the state.”

She assured the Speaker of effective partnership and support at all times.

An award of Excellence was presented to the Speaker for his outstanding achievements and track records as a man of peace and unity, hence the need for the award.

Addressing the Women, the Nasarawa State Number Three Citizen said that “the people of the State deserve commendation for voting for Gov. Sule in the last election to enable him to build on the solid foundation he has put in place.”

The Speaker appreciated them for the visit and assured them of his support at all times.

He said; “Today, I feel honoured for your visit to share with us the joy of our electoral victories and for sympathising with some of our members that lost their elections.

“We shall consider you in all of our activities to give you a sense of belonging and to enable you to contribute positively to the development of the State.”

The Speaker also assured them of effective partnership to take the State to the next level of development.

Balarebe dedicated the award given to him by the association to the members of the House for giving him all the necessary support to succeed.

He said; “The Award is not only for me but for all Honourable Members for their support, this is because the successes and what I have achieved was as a result of the  Honourable Members’ support.” 

Balarebe said that the House was among the few Houses of Assembly that live in peace with their executive arm in the country.
