The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has deployed its volunteers to Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State following the devastating flood that claimed lives and destroyed property in the early hours of Wednesday.

In a statement signed by Chima Nwankwo, Head of Media and Communications, the Society expressed deep sorrow over the incident and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the affected communities through search and rescue operations and emergency relief efforts.

“Our volunteers are actively engaged on the ground, providing critical search and rescue assistance as well as first aid services to survivors,” the statement read.

The Red Cross emphasised that it is working in coordination with local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure a timely and effective response to the disaster.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and will continue to support the Nigerian government in aiding all those impacted by this tragedy,” Nwankwo added.

The organisation assured the public that it remains fully committed to reaching vulnerable populations and mitigating the impact of natural disasters, particularly in remote or hard-hit areas.
