The Wife of Nigeria’s President, Oluremi Tinubu, has underscored the importance of community living, as Nigeria joins the rest of the world in commemorating the 2025 World Refugee Day.

In her message to mark the day, the First Lady said community living can bring succour to the most vulnerable in the society.

The First Lady, who acknowledged the patience and resilience of refugees in Nigeria, said:

“On World Refugee Day 2025, with the theme, “Community as a Superpower,” speaks to the heart of what the community can do to contribute to the most vulnerable among us.

“Across Nigeria and the world, refugees have shown remarkable strength. But it is often the kindness of neighbours, the open arms of strangers, and the unity of communities that turn survival into hope, and hope into healing.”

She therefore used the opportunity to solicit more care and support for displaced persons.

“Let us continue to build inclusive communities where refugees and Internally Displaced Persons are not just welcomed, but truly embraced and supported. Once supported, they should reciprocate by being law abiding and contributing meaningfully to their host community. Together, as a community, we are stronger. Happy World Refugee Day!” said the First Lady.
