Refugees Commission, Nigerian Army feed IDP households in Plateau

National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army has distributed, Food Care Packs to 300 IDP households in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Ahead of the distribution exercise, the Federal Commissioner, commiserated with the families of victims of attacks especially that of the Penu community that occurred on Tuesday night and prayed God to avert future attacks.

Represented by the Deputy Director, IDPs Department at the Commission, Dr Kangiwa, Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the visit was to

“We are here to present the Zero Hunger Food Packs to the Persons of Concern. I am sure you are aware that Zero Hunger is one among the Sustainable Development Goals.

“However, the essence of the Zero Hunger is to get rid of hunger in Nigeria general and the world in general.

“So, we are here today to if not eradicate, at least to alleviate some of the sufferings of our persons of concern through this small food care packs,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim said.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Army staff, Gen. Farouk Yahaya who was represented by Second-Leutenant Janet Obolo said the distribution of the Zero Hunger Food Care Packs to the persons of concern was commendable.

“From the way I see them in Wase Local Government, they really need it. I believe it would go a long way to alleviate hunger in them. I am sure they would value it and appreciate the Commission and Federal Government.

“We shall continue to partner with NCFRMI and other relevant stakeholders to assist and facilitate interventions for persons of concern,” Yahaya said.

For his part, the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives and Member representing Wase Federal Constituency Ahmed Idris commended NCFRMI and the Nigerian Army for the Zero Hunger Food Care Packs.

Idris who was represented by his Special Assistant, Alhaji Musa Nyalun added that he had also brought 100 wheel chairs for onward distribution to the crippled in the community.

Similarly, the Chairman of Wase Local Government, Dr Ado Abubakar Buba expressed delight at the gesture by the NCFRMI.
