Gloria Essien, Abuja
The House of Representatives is seeking the establishment of a Nigerian Solid Minerals Communities Development Commission for the development of infrastructure in such communities.
The motion was contained in a bill sponsored by Hon Ossai Nicholas Ossai.
The bill passes second reading and was referred to the committee on solid minerals development.
The ministry of solid minerals development recently stated that Nigeria is blessed with 44 different types of solid minerals in commercial quantity in more than 500 communities across the 36 states of the Federation.
Thus, what the lawmakers are asking for is that part of the revenue accrued from solid minerals mining be used for infrastructure development.
The House also approved the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Daura in katsina state.
Meanwhile, Plenary has been adjourned to Tuesday 14th March 2023.
