The Super Falcons of Nigeria beat Costa Rica 1-0 in their final match of the Revelation Cup tournament on Wednesday morning, ending their seven consecutive match losing streak courtesy of a strike from Esther Okoronkwo, at the Estadio León in Leone de los Aldamas, Mexico.
Coming into the match, nine-time African champions Nigeria, had suffered a 1-0 defeat to hosts Mexico and another 1-0 loss to Colombia, before claiming a 1-0 victory against Costa Rica as they were determined to finish the tournament on a high.
The Super Falcons dominated the match against Costa Rica but failed to convert their chances, before Randy Waldrum’s ladies opened the scoring before halftime.
Jennifer Echegini’s brilliant run through Costa Rica’s defence ended with a cross to Okonkwo, who curled the ball past the Costa Rica goalkeeper to give Nigeria the lead.

However, Esther Okoronkwo’s first goal for the Super Falcons was enough for Nigeria to claim its only win at the Revelation Cup.
