The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN is set to hold a Rice festival in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital with the unveiling of rice Pyramids soon.

The Pyramids are currently being stacked at the venue as truck loads of rice from all rice producing parts of the country arrive in the city centre in preparations for the festival.

The Unveiling of the Pyramids is aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rice growth in recent times under the Central Bank of Nigeria Anchor Borrowers Programme, encourage more people to go into rice farming and attract investors to the rice sub sector and the country.

Organisers of the event said that, the event was aimed to prove to the international world that Nigeria has now moved from being a dependent of imported rice from foreign countries to producers and exporters of rice to international communities.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to unveil the Pyramids.

It could be also recalled that Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari while granting live interview to Channels Television boasted that Nigeria is now self sufficient in rice production.

He enjoined the citizenry to key into government Agriculture revolutionary policies to add value to the economy instead of depending on oil.
