The Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering critical infrastructure under the “Rivers First” development agenda.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area.
He assured that the project would be completed by December 2025.
“So, I’m here to assure the good people of Emohua and Ogbakiri in particular, the Chairman is here as a witness, and you can see that the contractor is back on site. God willing, before the end of December, this project will be completed,” he said.
The Governor, who was accompanied by the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Chidi Lloyd, and officials of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, inspected the pace of work and expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction.
Fubara stressed that the focus of every responsible government must remain the welfare of its people.
“It is about them, and government is about the people,” he stated.
The Governor’s visit comes amid growing public expectations for infrastructural development across Rivers State.
The Ogbakiri road project, a long-standing demand of the community, is expected to enhance mobility, stimulate local commerce, and improve access to essential services upon completion.
Local leaders and residents have applauded Governor Fubara’s commitment, praising his hands-on approach to project monitoring and delivery.
As the December deadline approaches, stakeholders remain optimistic that the project will be completed on schedule and serve as a benchmark for other infrastructure initiatives under the state government’s renewal programme.
