Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has delivered a statewide broadcast marking the end of the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his address, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the President for his intervention and successful brokering of a peace process that restored democratic governance in the state.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, the Governor also thanked the National Assembly, the Rivers State House of Assembly, and various stakeholders for their roles in resolving the political impasse.
Governor Fubara emphasised the importance of putting aside differences and working towards the common good of the state.
He pledged to work harmoniously with the Rivers State House of Assembly to accelerate social and economic advancement.
“We have a duty to ensure that the peace we have all embraced remains permanent in our dear Rivers State. Let us work together with renewed hope and determination to build a stronger, more peaceful, and prosperous Rivers State.”
The Governor highlighted achievements of his administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other key sectors. He committed to completing ongoing projects and reviving the state’s economy.
“I assure you that we will continuously work towards ensuring that we carry everyone along. Our immediate responsibility is to return to the path of governance and development by completing the projects which we started.”
Governor Fubara called on citizens of Rivers State to join hands in rebuilding the state and securing a future of dignity and progress for everyone.
He stressed the importance of unity and inclusiveness, saying, “Our diversity is our greatest asset, and our unity the strongest guarantee of our future.”
The Governor concluded by giving glory to God and praying for the blessings of Rivers State and Nigeria.
