Two monarchs in North-Central Nigeria, the Emir of Borgu kingdom in Niger State and the Ejeh Ankpa IV in Kogi State have lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration for its continued interest in the National Home Grown Feeding Programme for primary schools.

The National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) is a Nigerian government that aims to improve the health and educational outcomes of public primary school pupils.

In a statement by Oyewumi Oyedokun, of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on School Feeding, Dr Yetunde Adeniji, the Emir of Borgu kingdom, Mohammed Sani Dantoro, asserted that the programme would significantly increase pupils’ enrollment in schools.

The Emir made the commendation while receiving the SSA to the President on School Feeding, who paid a courtesy visit to his palace and expressed commitment to providing continuous support for the programme

He, however, raised concerns regarding the challenges facing the School Feeding Programme, emphasising that effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation are crucial for its sustainability.

The Emir also highlighted the importance of meeting the expectations of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in the overall implementation of the School Feeding Programme.

Additionally, the SSA, Yetunde Adeniji, extended her visit to the Ejeh Ankpa IV, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu.

Oyedokun explained in the statement that the visit underscored the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to inclusivity and reaching out to diverse communities to ensure that all children, regardless of their backgrounds or disabilities, have access to nutritious meals and quality education.

The Monarch expressed joy in Mr President’s commitment to end hunger and ensure vulnerable children are catered to under the School Feeding Programme, promising his unflinching support in achieving the success of the programme.

Speaking earlier, Dr Yetunde Adeniji noted that the essence of the visit was to seek the Monarchs’ support in deepening the Federal Government School Feeding Programme.

She said the emphasis of both royal fathers on implementation, monitoring, and evaluation reflects the importance of ensuring that the programme operates smoothly and achieves its intended objectives.

Oyedokun further stated that by soliciting support from influential figures like the Emir of Borgu Kingdom and the Eje of Ankpa IV, the Senior Special Assistant and her team were taking steps to strengthen the programme and address any challenges it may face.
