Secondary Education Commission to build data base

The Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) Dr. Benjamin Abakpa says the Commission is committed to building accurate data base for all the Senior Secondary Schools across the Country for effective planning, learning, and proper disbursement of the NSSEC fund.

Dr Abakpa also said that accessing the funds in the Commission is a commitment towards raising the standard of  Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria.

The NSSEC Boss made this known when a group of Development Partners paid a working visit to his office at Abuja, to partner  the Commission in repositioning the Senior Secondary Education in the Country .

Abakpa further said that, there are stated guidelines to access the NSSEC fund for the Federal, State, Private and Missionary Schools and called on all to put the right measures in place so as to meet the stated criteria .

He also appealed to the Development Partners to collaborate with the Commission in addressing challenges confronting the Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Unicef representative, Murtata Adogi Mohammed said that Unicef is willing to partner with the Commission to ensure that Out-of School children syndrome is brought to a barest minimum, and further called on the Federal Government to pay more attention to the accessibility of Senior Secondary Education in some local Government Areas that have no access to the system.

Also speaking, Malala Foundation representative, Femi Aderibigbe expressed sadness in the rise of students’ drop out from School after the completion of the basic Education as a result of inability to access the Senior Secondary School, he then appealed to the Commission to pay more attention to Out- of School Children phenomenon.
