Senator Egwu Empowers Over 400 Ebonyi State Farmers

The Senator representing Ebonyi State North Senatorial Zone, Dr Sam Egwu has empowered over four hundred constituents by organising a three-day programme on training, supply and distribution of agricultural inputs to his constituents.

The Beneficiaries of the Agricultural Empowerment program was drawn from the four Local Government Areas of Zone which are Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi and Ohaukwu Local Government Areas.

The Agricultural Empowerment was powered by the National Root Crops Research Institute, of Micheal Okpara University, Umudike, through the sponsorship of Senator Egwu.

During the opening ceremony of the event, at Women Development Centre Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital, Senator Egwu expressed his passion for humanity, hence the human empowerment and people-valued infrastructural development since emerged political leader.

The Senator represented by Mr David Odeh also disclosed his plan to hold another batch of empowerment programmes for his constituents before the end of the year.

Odeh said: “You know Senator Sam Egwu is a lover of human empowerment. He was born to empower people. When he was the Governor of Ebonyi State, he changed the ugly narratives in the State and everybody was happy because of his legacies. He is always ready to empower people. Today’s empowerment programme is the tip of the iceberg because another fold of empowerment is coming up on the 28th of this month. More empowerment programmes are coming up. So as we are going to our various destinations, we should send this message to our people in their respective wards and communities, that this man called Senator Sam Egwu is a true leader we will always pray to have in a seat of power”

He expressed confidence that Senator Egwu as a ranking Senator at the National Assembly, would emerge winner at the 2023 polls.

While commending the Ebonyi North people for their prayers and support, he charged the resource persons to ensure the beneficiaries received all the necessary training on new Agricultural techniques during the programme.

Moreso, Odeh recalled that the participants of the empowerment programme were picked from various villages in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone based on the recommendation of their Community leaders.

He advised the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity, saying that “at the end of the empowerment programme, each of the 400 participants will be given farming inputs including rice, cassava stems, fish feeds, fertiliser, herbicides and money,” as a way of encouraging them in boosting farming for high productivity.

In their remarks, the Secretary of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum – Raymond Okeokpa, the former Coordinator of Echi Aba Development Centre in Ebonyi LGA – Michael Nwambam, the Coordinator of Akadike Campaign Group – Ndubuisi Ogba, one of the Resource Persons – Emeka Awom and others who spoke at the event described Senator Egwu as an exemplary leader, noting that in the previous months, he has held over ten empowerment programmes, drilled boreholes, distributed transformers and power solar plants to various towns and wards in the Ebonyi North Senatorial District.

Consequently, the beneficiaries of the programme including Mrs Ngozi Ugo, Mr Uche Nwadum, and Bernard Nwonyirigbo, among others commended Senator Egwu and assured him of their unwavering support in his 2023 bid.

The program is expected to end on 26th of October, 2022.
