Sexual abuse App applauded

The Nigerian government has presented a letter of commendation to the founder of Shamrock Innovation Hub, Miss Sa’adat Aliyu.

The commendation was in recognition of the app developed by Miss Aliyu, (Helpio App) which is aimed at assisting in reporting sexual abuses.

Presenting the Letter officially on behalf the government at the Communications and Digital Economy Complex in Abuja, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami lauded the initiative, stressing that ICT innovation and entrepreneurship is the way forward in wealth creation and providing the solutions to problems affecting society.

The Minister, Dr Pantami further directed the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to liaise with the young startup, mentor her, monitor her progress and support the system under the stipulated regulation.

Ms Aliyu is the founder of Shamrock Innovations, a women and youth-centric tech innovation hub in Kano.

She is also a tech community leader in the commercial centre of Nigeria and an advocate of women in tech.

Helpio App has a Hausa version and she hopes to have Yoruba and Igbo versions very soon.
