Sokoto Assembly swears in 2 new members

Sokoto State House of Assembly has sworn in the two newly elected members following the Feb. 3 rerun election in two constituencies of the state.

The Speaker of the House Tukur Bala administered the oath of office on the new members at plenary in Sokoto on Tuesday.

The lawmakers were Abubakar Magaji (PDP-Bodinga North) and Bashir Dahiru (APC-Tambuwal West).

“I wish to request the suspension of Order 15, Rule 12, Sub-rule 1 of the House Standing Orders 2019, to allow the newly elected members’ entourage to attend the chamber for the stated purpose,” he said.

Speaking shortly after, the lawmakers expressed gratitude to their constituents for electing them to serve as their representatives.

They pledged their loyalty to the leadership of the house and its standing rules.

The Feb. 3 rerun election was conducted in Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency and Bodinga North and Tambuwal West state constituencies.
