Sokoto: Nigerian Government Inspects Federal Polytechnic Temporary Site

A delegation from the federal Ministry of Education has inspected a temporary site set aside by Sokoto for smooth take-off of federal polytechnic in Yabo local government area of the state.

The delegation led by the Director Polytechnics and Allied Institutions, Dr Ejeh Usman, expressed optimistic with the level of commitment and preparedness of the state government towards actualizing the establishment of federal polytechnic in the area.

He described the place as suitable for the immediate take-off of the Polytechnic as soon as state government put some other infrastructures in order.

“The school has enough structures like laboratories, computer lab. as well as staff quarters.

“As we leave here, we would write to Governor Ahmed Aliyu to put other structures in oder. When everything is put to order we will come back for final assessment..
“If we are satisfied, we will transmit a report to Minister of Education for appointment of Rector and other principal officers of the institution for smooth take-off of academic activities,” the Director said.

Dr. Usman commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved and assured to continue to work closely to ensure actualisation of the process.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Isa Muhammad Maishanu, said Governor Ahmed Aliyu, is ready to provide whatever needed to the site for effective actualisation of the institution.

“The governor directed me to lead the team for the inspection and assured that immediately government will do the needful,”he noted.

The Commissioner thanked all stakeholders and community leaders for their commitments towards establishing the institution in Yabo local government.

The team, led by Dr. Ejeh Usman, Director of Polytechnic and Allied Institutions federal Ministry of Education, was accompanied by Dr. Musa Hatim Koko, Director of Curriculum at the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

They were joined by the Sokoto State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Isa Muhammad Maishanu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bello Sodangi, and Directors of the Ministry.

The inspection team toured the proposed temporary site, guided by the school principal who explained the available facilities.
