Sokoto State Commissioner Affirms Commitment to Continuous Legislative Collaboration

The Sokoto State Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Mr Sanusi Danfulani has reaffirmed his ministry’s unwavering commitment to continue to work closely with legislatures to promote good governance in the state.

Danfulani stated this while making clarification on the claim saying that he and his management staff ignored members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Science and Technology while on their oversight function to the Ministry.

He described the claim as misleading and a deliberate misrepresentation of relevant information aimed at causing issues between legislatures and the executive arms of government in the state.

Danfulani further explained that his absence was not intentional and neither was it a sign of disregard to the lawmakers committee.

He expressed deep respect for the role of the State Assembly in strengthening governance and accountability.

As a true democrat and politician, I will not undermine constituted authority at all cost. My absence was not deliberate, but as a serving commissioner, my attendance at the State Executive Council meeting is mandatory. It was in no way meant to undermine the vital oversight function of our respected lawmakers,” he said.

Productive relationship

The Commissioner further noted that his ministry has consistently maintained a cordial and productive relationship with lawmakers and always remains open, accessible, and cooperative in all legislative engagements.

My ministry always align with members of the state assembly and we work hand-in-hand with them on several initiatives and will continue to do so in the interest of transparency, accountability and good governance,” Danfulani said.

He assured the Committee members that he would appear before them on Tuesday 5th August, 2025 as specified on their invitation.

Sanusi Danfulani further explained that the ongoing contract for the completion of Independent Power Project (IPP), a multi-billion-naira initiative has reached 85% level of completion.

The project as agreed by the state government and the company is for the period of six (6) months. very soon the people of the state would starts enjoying the impact of the project for improved, agricultural activities and small and medium business in the state,” he noted.

The Commissioner called on people of the state to continue to rally more support to the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, for more and fruitful dividends of democracy.
