The Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, has laid foundation for the construction of 500 housing luxury estate at Sokoto New City as part of Sokoto State government’s commitment to address urban housing deficit.
Governor Ododo while laying the foundation in Sokoto, commended Sokoto State government for the initiative.
He said the project would go a long way in addressing housing challenges among public and private sectors in the state.
He commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State for transforming the state for sustainable development.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, said the project marks yet another important milestone signifiying collective efforts to address acute housing deficit in the state.
“As we lay this foundation, let it also stand as a symbol of our enduring commitment to development, equity, and the upliftment of our people through sustainable housing solutions,” he said.
He said the houses when completed would be sold on owner occupier for average civil servants and other low-income earners in the state.
Governor Aliyu called on the contractor handling this project to ensure quality job, and speed it up, to ensure timely completion in line with contractual agreement.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo for sparing his time to be in Sokoto to lay the foundation for the historic project.
