Sony Group and Honda Motor’s joint venture, Sony Honda Mobility, have announced plans to introduce three new electric vehicle (EV) models by the latter half of the decade, according to reports from the Nikkei business daily.

The venture, a strategic move to penetrate the electric vehicle (EV) market, plans to unveil a diverse range of electric vehicles, including a sports utility vehicle (SUV) slated for a 2027 release, followed by a compact model anticipated for 2028 or beyond.

Preceding these launches, the venture is scheduled to roll out a sedan in 2025, aiming to establish a competitive edge against industry titan Tesla, although the Nikkei did not disclose its sources for this information.

A spokesperson for Sony Honda Mobility emphasized their commitment to exploring future product lineups but refrained from divulging further details beyond the official announcements made to date.

The collaboration between Sony and Honda, formed in 2022, merges Honda’s extensive experience in vehicle engineering and manufacturing with Sony’s prowess in software development and gaming technology.
