Sorting, Counting Begin In Kogi State Guber Election

Sorting and Counting of Votes in the Kogi state off-cycle governorship election across the state have commenced.

In accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC guidelines, voting stops by 2:30pm local time, except for those already on queue, which was respected in Polling Units.

At polling 0079 Sahad Store, GRA, Lokoja, sorting and counting continued and were witnessed by party agents of the various political parties.

Elijah Gabriel, the party agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the whole process has been peaceful, especially with the security measures put in place.

No party is being intimidated and we all feel safe.

“We started on time and ended on time, that is why we also started counting on time,” he said.

At polling unit 0073, Ward A, Open Space, opposite Kenwon Hotel, sorting and counting was concluded by 3:40 pm local time.

The counted results among others will be collated at the local government Collation Centers from where they will be taken to the state Collation Center by  Returning officers for announcement of the final result and the winner.
