Spanish Goalkeeper David Raya Joins Arsenal From Brentford
Spanish goalkeeper David Raya has joined Arenal from Brentford on an initial £3m loan deal with a £27m option to buy next summer, the Premier League club announced.
Raya, 27, has been an integral part of Brentford’s team, registering 20 clean sheets to his name in 62 Premier League games after 161 appearances in all competitions. He has also featured two times for the Spanish national team.

“I’m over the moon to be able to take this challenge in my career and make the step up,” Raya said after putting pen to paper. “I’m really excited to get going and see how the season ends up.”
“I spoke to the boss and he sent me the values of what Arsenal are about. The way that the club is going, it’s growing even more so it is a beautiful challenge to take and I couldn’t say no.”
Raya becomes Arsenal’s fourth summer signing after making a season-long switch from Brentford, joining Declan Rice, Jurein Timber and Kia Havertz.
The Spaniard joins Arsenal’s goalkeeping department to compete with current first choice shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale after Matt Turner completed a £10m move to Nottingham Forest last week.
Raya, who signed for £3m from Blackburn in the summer of 2019, has also extended his contract with Brentford by two years, with a club option for an additional 12 months.
