The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated the newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Retired), on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and confirmation by the Senate.

The Speaker, in a congratulatory statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said General Musa’s appointment was a good choice for the country at this time.

Speaker Abbas commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for recognising General Musa’s competence, saying the President has demonstrated deep patriotism and good leadership in his choice.

Noting that Nigerians have applauded the President for the appointment, Speaker Abbas urged the new Minister of Defence not to disappoint the country.

General Musa succeeds Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar who resigned his ministerial appointment on Monday on health grounds.

The Speaker also commended the Senate for the thorough screening of the ministerial nominee before his confirmation, while applauding Gen. Musa for proving that he can do the job.

Speaker Abbas urged the new minister to bring his wealth of experience to bear by galvanising resources and manpower for better security of life and property in Nigeria.

While urging the new minister to ensure unity of purpose among the Armed Forces and other security agencies, the Speaker admonished him to work closely with the National Assembly, especially for necessary legislative assistance, budgetary provisions, and regular feedback from the people they represent.

Speaker Abbas wishes General Musa a successful tenure as Minister of Defence.
