The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has honoured the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tochukwu Ikenga, with the prestigious Life Reputation Award.

The award was in recognition of his contributions to public communication, transparency and reputation management in public service.

Ikenga received the award during a ceremony held in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, drawing a distinguished audience of political leaders, captains of industry, traditional rulers, media practitioners and members of the public relations community.

The Life Reputation Award is one of the institute’s notable recognitions designed to celebrate individuals who demonstrate exceptional professionalism, integrity and excellence in reputation management and public communication.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr Nelson Omenugha, said the recognition reflects Ikenga’s significant role in strengthening strategic communication within the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State.

Speaking on the theme of the event, “Managing Reputation Capital in the Digital Age: Influence, Integrity and Impact,” Omenugha noted that Ikenga’s approach to public communication has helped promote transparency, timely dissemination of information and constructive engagement between the police and the public.

According to the institute, the police spokesman has distinguished himself through proactive media engagement and initiatives that have enhanced public understanding of policing activities in the state while improving police–community relations.

The ceremony also served as a platform to honour individuals and institutions that have made notable contributions to ethical communication, positive reputation management and impactful leadership across various sectors.

Rebirth Campaign

Speaking earlier, Governor Soludo urged NIPR to deepen the Anambra Rebirth campaign by preaching enterprise and integrity in order to change the mindset of Anambra youths away from criminal idolatry and direct their steps towards hard work and resilience.

He noted that building infrastructure and developing every corner of the state would not be sustainable without the youths returning to the values of earning what they have.

The Governor encouraged the people to always tell good stories about Nigeria and Anambra rather than projecting the state in a bad light.

He said by so doing they end up portraying the state as a bad society, and that every nation is a work in progress as no place is perfect.

Among the dignitaries present were the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe; industrialist Chief Cletus Ibeto; and former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, alongside other top government officials and prominent personalities.
