Speaker Urges Anambra State Residents To Be Security Conscious

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Uche Okafor has urged residents of the State to be vigilant about happenings in their surroundings, to reduce crime to the barest minimum.

Mr. Okafor made the call when the Director of the Department of State Services, DSS, Anambra State Command, Mr. Enoch Pawa, paid him a courtesy visit in Awka, the state capital.

While assuring the DSS Boss of partnership in the area of protection of lives and property, the Speaker charged the people of Anambra State to join in the fight against insecurity by being contact security agencies or the House whenever they notice any strange movement or occurrence around their vicinity.

Mr. Okafor assured the nation’s intelligence agency that the house will pass a couple of bills that will deter people from engaging in crime and other acts capable of destabilising the peace and progress of the state.

The speaker also appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his support to security agencies, including the DSS for its role in arresting the killers of the late Honourable Okechukwu Okoye, who represented Aguata Two Constituency.

Earlier in a closed-door meeting, Mr. Pawa, commended the existing cordial working relationship between the DSS and the state government, which he noted is yielding the desired result.
