Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, is optimistic that stakeholders in the country will make the most of the National Sports Industry Policy, by charting a course towards sports as a successful business in Nigeria.

Senator Enoh was speaking at the SWA Sports conference held in Abuja, with the theme “Sports for Economic Growth: Unlocking Revenue Opportunities in Sports Business”.

This conference brought together key stakeholders in the sports ecosystem to discuss and collaborate towards advancing the sports business sector, which the Minister described as commendable.

“I believe that if the sports sector has  to tackle the problems it faces, it needs to be run as a business in Nigeria,” Enoh said.

“The Government cannot do it alone, and it is important for individuals, private and corporate sectors to step up and tap into the vast potential in the sports sector.”

The Sports Minister expressed the desire that just as Sports has contributed significantly to other economies of the world, it can also do the same for Nigeria.
