He made the appeal during a webinar organised by the Society to commemorate World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. The webinar, themed “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalisation,” was described by the NSE President as timely and in tune with Nigeria’s urgent development priorities.
Rabiu expressed optimism that discussions at the event would yield practical recommendations for the government’s consideration and implementation to drive national growth.
He stressed that improved security would boost trade relations and attract investments from leading global corporations.
According to him, the occasion also offered engineers the opportunity to reflect on their critical role in advancing sustainable development, noting that engineering worldwide continues to deliver solutions that enhance infrastructure, strengthen economies, and improve quality of life.
In his welcome address, the NSE Vice President (Corporate Services), Dr. Ben Osita Okoh, FNSE, noted that the theme of this year’s celebration reminds engineers that the future will increasingly depend on their ability to harness technology, embrace innovation, and apply digital tools in solving complex development challenges.
He further stated that NSE’s participation in the celebration reflects members’shared commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
